The growing season in Enontekiö lasts only about one hundred days. But for most of those days the herbs, roots, and berries spend their nights in the sunlight too.
The distinctive kitchen of Lapland comes from our pure soil, water and air. The midnight sun boosts the plants to produce a stronger tastes and nutrients. In the autumn, we are blessed with the aromatic harvest of mushrooms from the nearby forests, fish, game, and northern berries like cloudberries, blueberries, and crowberries. A unique garden product is the almond potato, a special variety of potato from Lapland. The finest meat, of course, is reindeer. Reindeers pasture and live freely in the fells.
