The snow under your skis can be up to 2 metres deep. The willow grouse tracks are the only sign of other two-legged creatures out there with you. It’s not necessary to talk, even with your friends – after all, you are in Lapland.
Enontekiö has around 200 kilometres of ski trails and the longest skiing season in Finland. The network of trails is at its most extensive from March to mid-April. Believe it or not, you can actually ski in Kilpisjärvi in June. Take a quick jaunt behind your hotel or go on an arctic ski trek in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Local companies organize support in the wilderness. Ski equipment can be rented from local companies or Hetta Hiihtomaa.
