Sotkajärvi Bird Tower Sotkajärvi is a lush lake of a few square kilometres with sedge rich shores and an abundance of birds, and it is part of the Sotkavuoma peat protection area.
Sotkajärvi is an excellent place for spotting birds during migratory and nesting times, and a number of northern and southern bird species may be spotted here.
Driving instructions: From Palojoensuu along Highway 21 (E8), drive 10 kilometres towards Hetta, the parish village of Enontekiö, or from the centre of Hetta 18 km in the Palojoensuu direction. The bird tower, campfire spot and outdoor toilet are located right on the northern side of the Palojoensuu – Hetta road (road no. 93). The tower can also be reached by wheelchair.
